I would like to address to the elementary parent who had concerns and issues regarding to the Friday Night and also 2nd service program.  I would like to address 2nd service question first.
We have only one official service for our children which is the 3rd service.  This is because our Sunday School teachers first attend their own service during the 2nd service and then they serve by teaching during the 3rd service.  For us to do 2nd service just like 3rd service for our children, we would need about 12 extra people which we have tried recruiting but have not been successful.  In the beginning when we were in Anaheim, we did try to do 2 children's services.  As you can tell, it was not successful.  We had about 3-5 children for us to hold the service for.  The children did not enjoy this since they were the center of all the teacher's attention.  Right now, we have one teacher who does give Bible story  lessons and do other activities within the classroom.  Most of the children who does come into this class will go into our regular children's service during the 3rd service.  Many of our elementary children come during the 2nd service to be in the CO2.  Our dream was to have 2 different children's service in the beginning but maybe later down the road God will permit us achieve this dream.
Before I go on to the Friday Night Program, I would like to add that I am not just a Sunday School teacher of over 30 years but also a mother.  I see my son who has slaved over his school work throughout the week.  When Friday rolls around, all he wants to do is just stay home and watch T.V.  Sometimes I grant him this wish because I feel so sorry for him.  I do coax him into going to church but if we had a "Program" he would not go.  He doesn't want to be stressed out at church when he has been stressed out at school all week long.  I k now that you want what is the best for your child and you want your child to grow spiritually just like you but the children do not learn the same way as the adults.  We put a lot of emphasis on Sunday's activities that the children need to do throughout the week..  The children take home refrigerator door and homework every week.  Have you been going over them with your children?  We also have Daily Bible Reading Program.  The children should read one chapter a day and write a verse that has meaning for them.  We believe this will form good habits for later years. 
Right now, we don't have elementary JDSN so our teachers have been taking turns filling in on Fridays.  The children have a chance to write scripture verses in their notebook and then they go on to whatever the activity that teacher has prepared.  Fridays are when we do put our hair down and is less strict.  I believe that if everytime they come to church that they are expected to learn and perform, I believe we will tire out our children. 
We have the most wonderful teachers.  Some of our teachers go to college ful-time, some of our teachers work full-time and they all have families that they have to take care of but they still take the time at home or work or school to prepare for our children.  I hope that maybe this will spur you to join the elementary department and beginning serving God in the Children's Ministry.  I'm not giving excueses since I think we are doing a great job.  What I'm trying to say is that we are short-handed and need more volunteers.  Would you like to join us?
